  I’ve been waiting in this cafe for an hour.

  Pastries taste like promises

  You tattooed over your crossed fingers.

  Make your eyes look eager as mine as they search for what we’re supposed to do now.

  Who knows where we’re off to?

  Climbing ladders? Clearing paths?

  Sometimes I’m convinced I’ll take those steps with you.

  Finding time for me feels optional when you’re busy with your “real life.”
